Below, Burda Magazine version The muslin : Victor reluctantly modeling the muslin after is has neen altered I started by the lining : I used a Burberry style plaid and followed  Tasia complete instructions to match plaids folded fabric right side inside matching plaid before laying out the pattern pieces pinned fabric to match plaid on both layers of fabric the whole piece of fabric is pined seam lines are marked with tailor's tacks Expert Ann Rowley gives excellent instructions about it here  tailor's tacks on the wrong side of the other layer of fabric tailor's tack before cutting marked right sides of back pieces ready to be sewn together center back seam before basting the ease pleat. Sherry organise un SAL consacré aux techniques de couture tailleur telles qu'elles sont utilisées dans le prêt-à-porter. Choisissez une veste ou un manteau et participez comme moi. J'hésite entre plusieurs modèles Burda. Ce n'est pas cela qui manque. J'avoue que j'adore les vestes et les manteaux, mais j'ai un peu peur de me lancer seule dans un projet aussi ambitieux. Départ le 1er avril, ce qui nous laisse le temps de préparer notre toile et de choisir notre patron. J'ai hâte....

Enfin quelques rayons de soleil sur la capitale normande, nous en avons profité pour visiter la ménagerie du cirque Arlette Gruss, qui fait escale chaque année dans notre ville. Cette année nous n'assisterons pas au spectacle, mais les animaux du zoo valent le détour à eux seuls; Les tigres même en cage, n'ont pas manqué de nos impressionner. Ils sont superbes (plus de 250kg) et très bien traités. Nous avons eu aussi droit à la parade des éléphants lors de leur entrée en scène. Ensuite, la route de la corniche nous a menés au sommet de la côte Sainte-Catherine où le panorama sur la ville, la Seine et ses ponts, la cathédrale et les "100 clochers"  est imprenable.

My sewing mojo is back at last!!!. 1/I finished burda so famous turtle neck. The one below is the burda version. I used a black rayon knit for mine. 2/a boho silk blouse that I started after xmas intending to wear it for the new year. The technical drawing gives a better idea of the product than the pictures as usual for Burda. Here's what it looks like on your favourite model.   I feared it might looked like a maternity blouse but hopefuly it doesn't. Your honest opinion would be must appreciated on this point. I chose a very airy silk chiffon that I purchased at my local Toto Soldes fabric shop. To sew this very thin fabric I used my teflon foot and it helped a lot. The pintucks on the front and back neck and in the sleeve cap were rather time consuming and asked for precise marking but they are nice. The neck edge and bottom hem are intentionaly left unfinished but for a secure stiching 1 cm from the edges. Apparently it doesnt fray with that type of fabri

I think this will be helpful to those of us who are trying to undrestand and achieve better fit. I found an interesting feature on Peggy Sager 's site :  To find out how much ease you need in the bottom half of your body, wrap the tape measure around the widest part of your hips and while holding the tape measure, sit on a chair. Allow the tape measure to slip through your hand while it enlarges and read the circumference at full sitting. The difference between this sitting hip measurement and your standing hip measurement is your ease. You actually don't need your ease to get a garment to have correct circumference, more importantly you need your sitting hip measurement. All garments should be made to equal that number. This make sense to me but I must admit that I never used this method to calculate how much ease I need to add at the hip line. Have already tried that method and does it work ??? Yesterday, Jean-Paul GAUTHIER showcased his spring summer couture collection. I've always been particular to him and I must say I am not disappointed but what he had to show. Here goes, (Photos French VOGUE) As usual some signature (deluxe) trenches : The masterfuly tailored pinstripe suit was not to be missed with a dramatic bowed silk blouse : What do you think of those trousers ???? IMO they are TDF. Hopefuly you don't mind my abbrevations but I am more an images than words person. Hence, le reste en images. ...   Those canadian smockings are quite inspiring : here 's an interesting tutorial in case you want to have a go. Silk Pyjamas perfect for some vacations on the French Riviera. The Punk theme showcased the Parisian couturier sartorial talent to be found in more civilized parts of London .

C'est pourquoi j'ai le plaisir de vous annoncer la naissance de mon nouveau blog L'Écho de la Mode 1956 J'ai ouvert ce blog pour vous présenter ma collection des Écho de la Mode. Je possède tous les numéros hebdomadaires de 1956 et 1957. Je pense que certaines d'entre vous ne seront pas indifférentes aux charme désuet de ces illustrations .....

Comme les copines je me fais un petit plaisir rapide avec ce sous-pull (turtleneck c'est quand même plus glamour). Pour mon premier essai je ne prends pas de risque et j'ai opté pour une rayonne noire. Il faut dire que je n'ai pas vraiment eu le choix vu les possibilités très limitées que m'offrait le Toto local. Malgré la simplicité du patron (3 pièces) j'ai fait un effort pour le "fit". J'en ai profité pour expérimenter le "pivot and slide" de Nancy Zieman qui me parait plus abordale que le slash and spread pour ce qui est de l'ajustement pour poitrine forte (FBA). Pas d'images perso pour aujourd'hui ce sera pour demain si tout va bien. Parting shot : J'ai profité des patrons Vogue à $4.25 réservés aux membres du Club BMV pour m'offrir enfin le patron dont je rêve jour et nuit depuis sa sortir pour réaliser la robe en soie sauvage que mon beau-fils m'a ramenée de Sri Lanka.

En ce début d'année, j'ai envie d'une nouvelle tête et je me suis faite relookée façon Mad Men. Oui, je sais il y certainement des choses plus intelligentes à faire. M'enfin on s'amuse comme on peut et en attendant l'inspiration, ça fait passer le temps. Voilà le résultat :  La cigarette c'est en souvenir du bon vieux temps ou on pouvait fumer impunément et sans culpabilité ni se faire engueuler par son voisin. Je suis devenue raisonnable .... Si vous aussi vous avez envie de changer de tête, c'est ici que ça se passe.
